Muslims all over the world celebrate ‘Eid ul Fitr on the first day of Shawwal —  after a  month long fasting month of Ramadan  which culminates into the festival of ‘Eid-ul-Fitr (the Festival of Fast-Breaking). It is a festival of joy, family reunion and thanksgiving to Almighty God. The giving of a special charity for this occasion is obligatory. This is known as Zakat. Muslims dress in holiday attire, attend a special community prayer in the morning, and visit friends and relatives. Greetings of “‘Eid mubarak,” or “Selamat Hari Raya in Malay” are exchanged. 
Eid Ul Fitr Prayer

: Allahu-Akbar, Allahu-Akbar. La ila-ha ill-lal-lah. Allahu-Akbar, Allahu-Akbar. Wa-lilahill hamd.

  Bismillahirahmanirahim  Millions of Muslims in Malaysia and many more across the world welcome the month of Ramadhan. A typical day in Ramadhan starts very early, before the dawn  with  the  Sahuur or the morning meal. The whole day is spent without eating or drinking anything. With a prayer of gratitude to Allah s.w.t., a Muslim breaks his fast at sunset with the  iftar  or the evening meal. Following the practice of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w., dates have traditionally been a part of  iftar  meals. From sunrise till sunset,   a Muslim who fasts is required to abstain from all evil deeds as seemingly small as they may be. Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. is reported to have said, "If a person does not avoid false talk and false conduct during fasting, then Allah does not care if he abstains from food and drink."
